Kintyre is a golfer's mecca and has some of the most attractive courses in Scotland.



Machrihanish Golf Club
The world famous Machrihanish Golf Course is literally on the doorstep of the house which overlooks the 18th green and is two minutes walk from the first tee. The course attracts visitors from around the world who visit again and again. The club welcomes visitors and has two professionals who can provide training.  The course was laid out by Old Tom Morris in the last century and the first hole has been described as " the best in the world".  The links course follows the seaside and has stunning views across the sea to the islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha.

There are five other courses which are within easy driving distance of Rothmar East, all of whom welcome visitors.

Machrihanish Dunes
This course is just to the north of the village and was completed three years ago. The course was designed by David McLay Kidd and has won international acclaim with visitors from all over the world. The course is part of The Village at Machrihanish group who also own The Ugadale Hotel and The Old Clubhouse pub in Machrihanish and The Royal Hotel in Campbeltown.

Dunaverty Golf Club
Dunaverty is in the village of Southend, about a half hour drive away, near The Mull of Kintyre. The setting is spectacular with views of Ailsa Craig, Sanda, the Ayrshire Coast and the Northern Ireland Coast.

Gigha
Gigha is a challenging 9 hole course on the beautiful small island of Gigha. It can be reached by a short ferry crossing and the ferry is about an hour's drive away.

Carradale
Described as "the most sporting 9 hole courses in Scotland", Carradale offers a magical setting with views across Kilbrannan Sound to the Isle of Arran.

Tarbert
Nestled on the top of West Loch Fyne, Tarbert offers golfers a challenge. This 9 hole course is a hidden gem.
